About the event

Our outdoor event organizer, Scott Martin, has lined up a great summertime adventure for us this month. Beat the heat with a beautiful paddle in cool spring waters! Gently paddle along the shallow waters of Spring Creek to the headspring of Alexander Springs and back. Each way is about 45 minutes, but the current is very gentle along the wide creek. It’s an unhurried paddle up/paddle back in fresh, clear water. The natural, spring waters at the headspring is a cool 68 degrees.

Meet at 8:00AM near the Akexander Springs Recreation Area. Parking: Go past the Alexander Springs Recreation Area entrance for about a half mile until you reach the bridge. There is parking on the right just before the bridge. Look for a staff with rainbow colors.

Please bring your own paddlecraft (kayak, canoe, etc.). If you need to rent a paddlecraft, there are many canoe and kayak rental services in the area.

What to bring: Flotation device (usually provided along with a rental), water, snacks, sunscreen and/or a hat as the paddle is mostly in the sunshine.

There are restaurants nearby, and depending on interest, we may go get some food and drink afterwards. Hope to see you there!
